Far past the trappings of Hollywood, just south of the sprawling LA basin, the rat race gives way to a beautiful stretch of coastline where - even in California's challenging financial crisis - the days are beautiful and everything you hear about "laid back California" is fully on display. Laguna Beach is the birthplace of both skimboarding and extreme downhill skateboarding and boasts the highest number of artists per capita of any town in America. Seemingly at every turn, creativity & good times are there for the taking. There's just something magical about the place and this is likely due in no small part to the awe inspiring topography. One needs only a bit of patience, a camera and a couple of sweaters to block that ocean wind... and from there, it's never long before you can catch a magic moment. You'll have plenty of time to do it too, as no one here ever seems to be in any hurry :-) This was shot on a beach hike about one mile north of Aliso State park near the Montage Resort.
